Amarillo by Morning The bond guide Here on ABM we want to encourage threading but add some fun to it and unpredictability as well. So something we decided to add in that may differ from other horse stable rpg sites is that your character and their mount can develop a bond. Now you're probably wondering how the hell do we manage to do that? Once your character is created, they are assigned a mount in whatever discipline they prefer. Don't worry, when you earn enough monies by posting, you will be able to purchase a custom horse or an ABM import (specialized breed of ABM!) so having a premade/lesson mount isn't a bad thing since it'll give your character a chance to improve in their riding discipline as well as develop a knack. Once your character has their horse assigned to them, then you are free to thread with that horse as much as you would like! You can show it, you can do anything with it! Just like in the real world, some of the lesson horses cycle in and out of the stables to sell and be replaced by newer, younger horses. If you've grown attached to the horse you were assigned too you're more than welcome to purchase it if it becomes available!
Bonding with your horse is done through posting, completing quests, training and competing. The more you do this, the more you bond with it. There are levels of bonding and stipulations to get to the top.
Level One: Level one is achieved by posting with your horse twenty (20) times. This can be replies, this can be one shots, this can be anything regarding the horse. Even brushing it while talking to another character! Very simple!
Level Two: Level two would be participating in trail rides, completing quests and training the pony! You must do one of each before reaching level two. Also you must reach level one before reaching level two! So if you create a trail thread, training thread or anything like that before reaching level one, it doesn't count for level two.
Level Three: Level three comes around. You must compete in three shows before reaching level three. This means any shows that roll around, your character must be in at least three with their mount! You should also have reached level two by this time!
Level Four: After completing level three, you must have at least participated in five horse shows (placing in two of them), have three trail rides and completed three quests total! Must have reached level three before reaching level four!
Level Five: Now that you've competed in the shows, quests, and such, you should be stocked up on stat points and be ready to win a couple of competitions. Now it's time to take your horse to the top by winning competitions and placing (at least) in a higher ranked competition!
That's the gist of bond levels! A higher bond allows horse and rider to compete with bonuses as apposed to those who have no bond or lower bonds! If there's ever a question regarding the bond and different levels, please feel free to ask any of the staff members and we'll help you out!

Amarillo by Morning The Knack Guide Something else we're offering here on ABM is for your character to develop knacks. But much like in real life, you are not able to choose what knack your character gets. It's up to the staff members to choose! The only reason we feel like this would be fair is because we don't think a sadistic, chauvinistic, self-centered character should have a knack for healing. Maybe a knack for law (lawyer hehe) but not healing. So if player joins with a character whose personality isn't befitting a certain knack that the player picks out for them, then we would already have to ask them to change the personality, or the knack and that just causes drama. So instead, the staff of ABM will have that power and take the responsibility of choosing off of your shoulders!
The knacks act as a natural gift in different categories. On ABM it's mostly to do with ranch life, equestrian life, riding, animals, as well as law enforcement, fire fighting, medical, etc. Things that would be useful to ABM and add bonuses to your character's life here. Some knacks, like a natural saddle seat if you've ever heard of it. Like, "That girl has a natural seat". Basically, a natural rider. Your character would have bonuses in their chosen discipline when competing! Or if you have a natural healer, they would have bonuses in bonding with their animals or they could be a doctor! Someone who is a natural athlete would have bonuses in bronc or bullriding.
The bonuses would consist of maybe a higher percentage in winning competitions, of earning quests and completing them with higher rewards, etc. Some knacks that your character can develop are as followed:
HORSE WHISPERING - Mostly for those in the horse world who have the gift of communication with their horses. ANIMAL WHISPERING - Those who are a lover of all animals have a tendency to draw comfort from being around all types of animals. NATURAL HEALER - Has the healing touch. Sometimes their hands will get real hot and they'll start feeling dizzy while using this gift. They are caring and kind to others and will generally put others before themselves. INTUITIVE - Some people just know when something is going to happen and tries to prevent it. They will have a sense of deja-vu. Some suffer from anxiety attacks if they don't understand these feelings. GREEN THUMB - Those who have the gift of thumb in the sense that they're good with plants of all types. Usually farmers and florists. ATHLETIC - Those who find themselves on the go all the time or love to be outdoors. Can be joggers, sports fanatics, or even bull riders and bronc riders. FLAMBOYANT - These are social butterflies who thrive in a group and loves having a group of followers. Can be man or woman. People are drawn to these type because they always dress nice, they always say the right things, they're charismatic. NATURAL LEADER - These are just born to lead others. Whether they are first born, last born or even only child, these guys and girls will not do things just because others will. They're not afraid to take directions and orders from others but they aren't afraid to stand up and lead a pack of their own. ARTISTIC - This group feels more deeply than any other person would. They consist of anyone in any type of art in the world like Photography, Design, Studio Art, 3D art, etc. KLEPTOMANIAC - Let's face it, crime is everywhere, always has been. This knack is for the souls who've given their life to the ways of atrocity, corruption, and lawlessness. They are your modern "villains," with good reason too. They're more likely to "get away with murder." IRRESISTIBLE - This gives a boost in any type of socialization. Irresistible people are good with words and seem to know how to sweet talk their way into anything. Sexually, they tend to be too tempting and attractive to be resisted by some people. VALIANT - It's pretty easy to point this type of person out in a crowd. They are typically proud, patriotic, and brave with a strong sense of leadership. They possess courage and determination to a greater degree than most, and would never second guess laying their lives on the line for a complete stranger. HANDYMAN - The ability to fix and mend things with their hands just comes naturally to this type of person, especially when you hand them a wrench. They're usually your go-to Mr. Fix-It. Farriers and mechanics will likely fall into this category. WORKAHOLIC - This is an excellent knack for those who put their careers first. They are your business-savvy entrepreneurs, administrators and executives. Workaholics usually score the promotions in their job place and are great at negotiating. BOOKWORM - Bookworms love to learn, but don't be fooled to think they're all nerds. These people tend to understand things faster, more so because they study and work hard to achieve their goals. They do amazingly well in class and tend to keep a good head on their shoulders. COMPETITOR - Most people nowadays are pretty honed in when it comes to being competitive, because "If you ain't first, you're last!" Well, for those who live for the glory, gold, and blue ribbons, you're surely a Competitor.
more to come. . .

Amarillo by Morning Experience & Horse/Bull Assignment Each character who wishes to be assigned a mount will be done so based on personality and experience. Since all players start out with the same amount of experience, then everyone is basically on the same level. This gives everyone an opportunity to work with their mounts instead of making them and letting them sit. Of course this doesn't mean you can't make your own mount! you just need a Create-A-Horse or CAH ticket! Or you can wait for breeding season to roll around and grab a foal when the stables breed their mares!
Experience: Experience is something your character gains through trail rides, quests, training etc. Random events will be generated to help build a thread and give muse to those who can't think of things right off the bat, and get the ball rolling. These threads will be judged based on how the character handled the incident while remaining true to his/her personality, how the horse reacted to the incident while remaining true to his/her personality, and how the outcome was. Then not only will you be rewarded but so will your character's mount as will the bond between the two!
Horse Assignment: Upon joining, each character will be assigned a horse (that want one) based on how compatible they would be for one another. You are not free to create a horse upon creating your character, but don't worry. After posting so many times you will be able to afford either an import or a normal breed.
- The rule of thumb for horse assignments calls that a character's experience must be equal to or less than the horse's stat points. So if your character has 21 experience points and the horse has 22 stat points, your character cannot claim that horse. - It is important to know that if there are no available horses at your character's current experience level, you have the ability to enter your character into quests to increase their points! Either that, or you must wait until the leased horses are cycled out at the end of the site year. - In the event that your character wishes to change disciplines, a rider may not return a leased horse then claim another that is trained in the same specified event in the same year. Example; Becky cannot return a barrel horse then request to claim another barrel horse, she must either claim another horse trained in any other western event or an English horse.
Bull Assignment: Upon joining, bull riders will be assigned a bull, come competition time, in which they must successfully ride before being able to move onto another bull in the rider's respected skill level. The assigned bull will only be ridden during competition, so practice rounds will be ridden on an anonymous bull as the light of the subject is to simply gain experience for the actual ride in the rodeo.

Amarillo by Morning Stables and Other Groups We're pretty simple in keeping our ducks in a row by dividing characters up in Townies, Double Bar L (DBL), Belgrove Equestrian Academy (BEA), or Triple J (TJP). Generally, if your character rides English, she belongs with BEA and if it's western they may choose between DBL or TJP. Townies are strictly that, Townies that have nothing to do with riding competitions, however select stables do offer retired horses that any Townie may occasionally ride for pleasure. These are also shop owners, friends of the stables, doctors, vets, and the works.
Current available Groups; BEA Member BEA Student DBL Member DBL Student TJP Member TJP Student Townies
MEMBERS: Select to family members, those employed at the specific stable, and others who board or lease a horse but do not consider themselves Students. Members may partake in open clinics and shows, however will not be allowed to train or show in any closed school event. They will be second priority to events with limited entries as well as school and lease horses, however may be eligible to ride a Personal Horse. All Members are eligible to try out for the stable's yearly Olympic team.
STUDENTS: Select to family members and others who are attending the Academy/stable riding school or are apart of DBL's school for troubled teens. Students (with the exception of DBL's troubled teens) may choose to lease or board a horse and are REQUIRED to remain very active with their horse. Students will have the ability to partake in closed clinics and shows as well as have access to specified privileges and bonuses during events and around their stable. Students are eligible to try out for the stable's Olympic Team.
TOWNIES: A person who is not directly affiliated with any of the three stables are considered a Townie. This group is for your average citizen who does not board or lease a horse. Townies may not participate in riding-affiliated events however will have the opportunity to partake in public city events. Townies may not try out for any Olympic Team however do have the option of riding any Retired Horse at a participating stable, at leisure.
All characters have the ability to change their group title under the circumstance that they meet their requested group requirements.

Amarillo by Morning Competitions, Games & Teams There are competitions for each season here on ABM. While the stables are feuding to be the top ranch/stable in Amarillo, they do their own thing during the year. Each stable holds their own competition in their discipline. DBL offers rodeo themed competitions, including bull and bronc riding, while BEA hosts a series of English competitions like Eventing. This is strictly for that discipline and despite it being a BEA hosted competition it's open for English riders unaffiliated with the Academy. English competitions take place during the fall and Western competitions take place in the summer time.
After the competitions, each stable will select riders to team up and represent their stable to participate in the Amarillo Equestrian Games, a show that combines all disciplines to show who has the best horsemanship all around. Games like Rally and Trail, Pleasure and Cross Country, and Halter will be hosted to show how far a character has come in their experience and bond between them and their mount. These Games will be done at the end of each year and new team members will be selected for the next competition.
Teams will be chosen based on how far characters have come in their experience, bond and training their mount. We will look at the quests completed, the practice and training as well as the activity for that character. Benefits such as bond points, experience, stat points and money will be given to the team mates for participating alone, then more prizes for each place! It's a lot of prizes to be had!

Amarillo by Morning Competition Judging Guide Here is a general guide to the judging process of all equestrian events on ABM; Bond Points (out of 50 points)The biggest portion of judging is a rider and horses’ bond. Bond determines how much you and your horse have worked together, which is the key aspect of the competition itself in that generally the more you train, the better the horse is. Each Bond Level represents 10 competition points, maxing at 50 competition points for Level 5 Bonds. You may refer to The Bond Guide for more information about Bond Levels.Rider and Horse/Bull Performance (calculated points)This portion is where the rider and horses’ stats/experience come into play. Per event there are two specific stats that play a major benefactor over the rest, hence major stats and minor stats, this applies to both rider and mount with the exception of competing in Combined Events where all stats are evenly counted. Major stats will be doubled over minor stats in each respective event, you may refer to Rider and Horse Stats for more information about Rider and Horse experience points and the box above for a complete list of events and their major/minor stats. Below is a list of event category and how stats will be applied during judging;
Individual Events (i.e. Barrel Racing, Show Jumping, Bull Riding) Horse/Bull: Major Stat (x2) + Major Stat (x2) + Minor Stat + Minor Stat + Minor Stat = Performance Points Rider: Major Stat (x2) + Major Stat (x2) + Minor Stat + Minor Stat = Performance Points TOTAL: Horse/Bull Performance Points + Rider Performance points
Combined/Team Events (i.e. Team Chasing, Poker Run) Horse: Major Stat + Major Stat + Minor Stat + Minor Stat + Minor Stat = Performance Points Rider: Major Stat + Major Stat + Minor Stat + Minor Stat = Performance Points TOTAL: (Horse Performance Points + Rider Performance Points) + (Horse Performance Points + Rider Performance Points) = (Total divided by number of riders on team)Execution (out of 20 points)You are free to write out a portion of the competition of which will be counted towards the final judging score. Of course, if you choose not to do this that is fine, but you will not receive points. (Please note, the writing portion and the bond points do not go hand in hand. The bond points are earned while training your mustang while the Execution portion is based solely on the competition and for the competition.) The one shot must be completed before posting your entry!Luck and Reality (out of 10 points)Let's face it, sometimes a competition comes down to just dumb luck. This will be randomized to determine how many points your rider and mount receive from this category. Below is a list of possible outcomes based on each number or group of numbers;
Bull/Bronc Riders 0 - Rider or Mount injury, entry automatically voided. 1-5 - Incomplete ride, was thrown before the buzzer, entry automatically voided. 6-10 - Just plain luck, points added, entry unaffected.
Other Riders 0 - Rider or Mount injury, entry automatically voided. 1-3 - Horse spooked, Rider thrown, entry automatically voided. 4-10 - Just plain luck, points added, entry unaffected.
Please note, any character with the Intuitive Knack automatically receives a score of 10 points in this category.BonusesPresentation - earned by purchasing tack in the store, an appeal in presentation could end up being the determining factor in winning the competition. +Calculated Presentation Points Trainer Bonus - if being trained by a trainer, not self-trained unless you are a trainer, you earn this bonus. +5 points Sponsors Bonus - if on a stable-affiliated equestrian team. +5 points Gelding Bonus - geldings are typically better-natured. +5 points Horse Whispering Knack - a very big bonus all around, especially helps in the Communication department. +5 points Athletic Knack - for bull and bronc riders. +5 points Competitor Knack - for any trained horse rider. +5 points Bookworm Knack - for any student riding at either DBL or BEA. +5 pointsTotal: (Combination of all categories and selected bonuses)

Amarillo by Morning Discipline and Training Every horse on ABM is assigned to a discipline based on their stats. So when training, they are trained in their default discipline. However, a horse can be trained in two disciplines. This can be done by specifying which discipline you are training your horse in when doing quests. Further more, you are able to go to a trainer of that discipline and ask for their training, higher bonuses would be given if that was the case. You need 5 training threads for the new discipline.
Leveling out a privately owned horse is going to be based on stats. If you have a horse that has twenty (20) stat points, it's going to be marked as a beginner. If the horse has forty, it'll be considered intermediate, and so on and so forth. The levels jump by twenty, with 100 being the highest/professional level. This, of course, does not mean you max out your levels at just 100 stat points and you can stop training your horse. More levels will be introduced as they are approached.
Bond points are maxed out, however, at 100 points. Anything you earn from that point goes to maintaining your bond level. From this point on (May 23rd, 2015) you can either lose or gain bond points with your mount. Losing bond points can be caused by neglecting the horse. The required amount of posts with your horse is set based on bond level. If you aren't level 1 yet, you have to post at least 1 time a month with your horse, mentioning your horse in any way in a thread. If you are level 2, you have to post twice a month, lvl 3, three times a month and so on and so forth. You can keep track of this by linking the threads to your logs, WHICH IS REQUIRED. This way when we have activity checks and you provide logs, we can determine who loses stat points. If you miss 1 post out of five, that's 10 bond points you lose and you're dropped to level 4 bond, then you must restart working towards level 5. Any questions, feel free to ask!
Training passes are going to be limited to 5 per season starting Spring Year 2 site time (same goes for penguin cookies). YOU MUST THREAD YOUR HORSE. Training passes are amazing to use, however the point of bonding with your mount is threading with the horse. If you're lonely doing one person quests, you are encouraged to request a group thread, one on one thread, whatever your heart desires!
Training license will be available to purchase Spring Year Two for the public, however for now these are limited to staff while kinks are worked out. Training license have two options: Training in one discipline, or an all around training license. (single vs all around). A training single is typically a training license in the discipline your character excels in while an all around license is for all disciplines. Trainers are ranked by stars. The maximum stars for a single license is three, the maximum for an all around license is five. In order to purchase a single, you must have level three bond with your mount, 100 EXP, and try out for the license. It's a lot like a quest. If you pass the judging, you get the license. Based on the execution, content and realism, as well as stipulations met, we will award the trainer the appropriate star level. For the all around, you must have 500 EXP, level 5 bond and try out for the license.
Training Requirements ONE(1) training license per discipline 100/500 experience minimum lvl 3/lvl 5 bond with at least 1 horse Trainer takes an assigned quest test test affects ☆ rank ( _ of 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ // ★★★★★ )
The Rank affects how many stats the trainer can give to a horse that they are training. The Rank number also determines how many horses the trainer can handle at one time. They stack like so; ★ = 10 horses ★★ = 20 horses Trainers can set their prices based on their Rank. Prices cannot exceed the amount their Rank unlocks but can fluctuate anywhere from 0 to their Rank-Cap.
Trainers must keep a training log. This will have a post at the top with a T.O.C. (example soon) T.O.C. includes - their met requirements (their training diploma(s) listed out) the amount they charge their star level their discipline the list of horses linked to the horses training log post (a reply to that thread) The Benefits they offer Self Supported OR Stable employed (different bonus)
HOW TRAINING WILL WORK You, the character, hire a trainer. You, the character, posts a training quest with the appropriate form. Staff answer the quest & tag your hired trainer. The TRAINER completes the quest & staff post the quest results.
* USING A TRAINER DOES NOT GIVE YOU BOND POINTS WITH YOUR HORSE! *
Trainers MUST keep their training logs up to date Neglecting to update your logs or train a horse when you're requested to have various affects that include a drop in your star-rank (which will cause you to lose business!) - Each horse you neglect to train - 1 ★ rank drop - Each time you neglect your logbook - your Charge Cap will drop and, eventually, you'll loose 1 ★ rank. - neglecting your logs will also drop your trainer bonus! This means the stat that your trainer specializes in will NO LONGER be boosted!
Instructor Requirements 1 teaching license per discipline 100/500 experience minimum lvl 3/ lvl 5bond with at least 1 horse instructor takes an assigned quest test test affects ☆ rank ( _ of 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ // ★★★★★ )
Rank affects how many stats the instructor can give horse & rider. Your Rank will determine how many students your instructor can handle, same as the Training License. ★ = 10 students ★★ = 20 students Your Pricing is also handled the same as with training!
Teachers must keep a lesson log. This will have a post at the top with a T.O.C. (example soon) T.O.C. includes - their met requirements the amount they charge their star level their discipline the lesson openings (how many slots are still available) The Benefits they offer Self Supported OR Stable employed (different bonus)
in the log 1 post with the list of students, their level, their horse & their lessons completed
HOW LESSONS WILL WORK -> character hires the instructor -> character posts lesson quest with the appropriate form OR instructor posts group lessons -> staff posts the quest tagging the instructor OR the instructor provides the lessons -> students do the lessons -> quest results (staff judge each student AND instructor)
Instructors MUST keep their lesson logs up to date. You'll suffer the same consequences as a Trainer when you neglect your lessons and/or logs, so remember this!
Becoming a Trainer or a Riding Instructor is a commitment, there's a lot of work involved so be sure you're ready to tackle this before you take the chore on!

Amarillo by morning Stables and Breeds There’s a feud between the three stables, one started a long while ago when Double Bar L jumped from Gunner hands to Belgrove hands and back again after they hit rock bottom. Since then, the Belgrove family has started up an Equestrian Academy with the mission to produce the best riders in the nation if not the world. This feud no longer has any real foundation other than old grudges held by the kids on each side.
A new feud has started between the new stable, Triple J, and Double Bar L after Quade slept with Jesse’s underage daughter and in turn got Jasper suspended from the military. Hard feelings are developing between these two stables based on resentment towards one another. These two stables are also western.
Each stable has a breed that represents them in some way. These three breeds are the Belgrove Warmbloods, the Ladani Cattle Horse, and the Maulimeuts. Below are the short descriptions of each breed.
Belgrove Warmbloods - A mix between the Marwari, Andalusian, Hanoverian, Holstein and Thoroughbred, these elegant horses are the perfect candidates for all types of English riding. They stand between 15.3-17.2hh and are usually seen in common coat colors. Personalities are much like their human counterparts: Conniving, elegant, graceful, manipulative (as any horse could be) and extremely intelligent. What’s unique about this horse are the mutation markings and chimera that follows.
Ladani Cattle Horse - The Ladani, or Levi Cattle Horse as it was originally called, changed it’s name after Lazarus and Dani took over the Ranch from Cain gunner. This horse is a beautiful mixture of the Mustang, Quarter Horse and Paint. Their colors are a wide variety, including the rare Roan on Tobiano. Their personalities match the Gunner family beautifully in loyalty, spunk and intelligence. They have the endurance of the Mustang with the flawless conformation of the Quarter Horse while inheriting the vast coat patterns of the Paint.
Maulimeut - A breed whose existence was threatened by the dwindling numbers in it’s homeland, Australia, the Maulimeuts found themselves on the James ranch in Missouri when Jesse and Frank caught wind of this magnificent breed. The brothers worked to bring the breed back and as of date they are the only known breeders of the Maulimeuts. Apart from the name, the unique attributes of this breed are never-ending. They’re a vicious breed made up of Friesians and Mustangs, build much like an Andalusian with full feathers, mane and tail. Their colors mainly consist of the black gene as dominant, however they are known to produce brindle, reverse dun, and several unique colors. They’re silent animals and vicious to boot. They only bond with one human, but it takes a lot to get on their good side. They have to be kept in separate enclosures since this breed is known to fight natural and it’s own breed. They are not good mothers and tend to reject the foal, which is one of the reasons their breed was nearing extinction in Australia. The mares and stallions’ personalities are all the same and unless you look, you couldn’t tell the genders apart based on personalities alone. Mares bond with one stallion only and will mate for life. This breed is not for beginners.
